Attendee Terms and Conditions

Terms and Conditions for Attendees of the
NPA Psychopharmacology Conference™

The following terms and conditions apply to all attendees of the Annual National Psychopharmacology Update™, organized by the Nevada Psychiatric Association (NPA).

​

In consideration of being permitted to enter and remain at NPA’s Psychopharmacology Update™, attendees, on behalf of themselves and their heirs, assigns, executors, administrators, next of kin, and personal representatives (collectively, “Related Persons”), hereby acknowledge and agree to the following terms and conditions.

​

- By registering for the event, attendees agree to pay the full registration fee and any additional fees for optional activities or materials. Attendees also agree to comply with the cancellation and refund policy of the NPA, which can be found on the event website.

​

- The NPA reserves the right to cancel the event in accordance with Cancellation Policy for Attendees, which can be found on the event website, or modify any part of the event program without prior notice or liability.

​

- Attendees are responsible for arranging their own travel and accommodation for the event. The NPA is not liable for any costs or damages arising from travel delays, cancellations, accidents, illness, injury, loss of property, or any other unforeseen circumstances that may affect the attendees' participation in the event.

- Attendees are expected to behave in a professional and respectful manner during the event. Attendees agree to NPA’s Code of Conduct for Conference Attendees, which can be found on the event website.  The NPA reserves the right to deny admission or expel any attendee who engages in disruptive, abusive, harassing, discriminatory, unethical conduct, or conduct that violates NPA’s Code of Conduct for Conference Attendees.

- Attendees acknowledge that the event may be recorded, photographed, or live-streamed by the NPA or its authorized agents. By attending the event, attendees’ consent to the use of their name, image, voice, and likeness by the NPA for promotional, educational, or research purposes without compensation or further permission.

- Attendees understand that the information and opinions expressed by the speakers and presenters at the event are their own and do not necessarily reflect those of the NPA. Attendees are advised to exercise their own judgment and discretion in applying any information or advice obtained from the event to their own practice or situation. The NPA does not endorse or guarantee the accuracy, validity, quality, or suitability of any products, services, or materials mentioned or displayed at the event.

- Attendees agree to indemnify and hold harmless the NPA and its officers, directors, employees, agents, partners, sponsors, and affiliates from any and all claims, liabilities, damages, costs, or expenses arising from or relating to their attendance or participation in the event.

- Attendees acknowledge that in attending the event they may be exposed to viruses (including, without limitation coronavirus SARS- CoV-2 and any resulting disease (together with any mutation, adaptation, or variation thereof, “COVID-19” and, together with all other similar viruses, “communicable diseases”)) which has been known to cause illness, disability, other short-term and long-term physical and/or mental health effects, and/or death, regardless of age or health condition at the time of exposure and/or infection.

ASSUMPTION OF RISK: By attending the event, attendees acknowledge and agree that they have read and understood the above warning concerning the communicable diseases.  The event is of such value to the attendee that the attendee accepts the risk of being exposed to, contracting, and/or spreading the communicable diseases in order to attend in person. Attendees, on behalf of themselves and Related Persons, knowingly, voluntarily, and irrevocably, assume all as risks and dangers of attending the event in person and entering the event premises, which may include an increased risk of exposure to communicable diseases, viruses, bacteria or illnesses or the cause thereof, sickness, personal injury, disability, other short-term or long-term health effects, and/or death, which might result from the actions, inactions, or negligence of the NPA, any of the NPA or its affiliates, officers, directors, members, contractors or agents, or other third parties (collectively, the “Released Parties”), whether occurring before, during or after the event, however caused and whether inside or outside of the event. Attendees accept personal responsibility for their voluntary participation in/at the event and assume, on behalf of themselves and Related Persons, all responsibility of claims and potential claims relating to the risk and dangers herein described.

WAIVER OF LAWSUIT/LIABILITY:  ATTENDEES, ON BEHALF OF THEMSELVES AND RELATED PERSONS, HEREBY KNOWINGLY, VOLUNTARILY, IRREVOCABLY, AND FOREVER RELEASE, WAIVE, AND DISCHARGE (AND COVENANTS NOT TO SUE), EACH OF THE RELEASED PARTIES WITH RESPECT TO ANY AND ALL CLAIMS THAT ATTENDEES AND ANY OF THE RELATED PERSONS MAY HAVE (OR HEREINAFTER ACCRUE) AGAINST ANY OF THE RELEASED PARTIES THAT RELATE TO ANY OF THE RISKS, HAZARDS AND DANGERS DESCRIBED HEREIN.

CHOICE OF LAW: I hereby agree that the law of the State of Nevada will apply to this Agreement.

​

WAIVER OF CALIFORNIA CIVIL CODE SECTION 1542:  Attendees specifically and expressly waive all rights under Section 1542 of the California Civil Code, to assert a claim that may now exist or that may arise in the future based on facts that may be unknown to me now.  Section 1542 of the California Civil Code states “a general release does not extend to claims which the creditor does not know or suspect to exist in his or her favor at the time of executing the release, which if known by him or her must have materially affected his or her settlement with the debtor.”  By waiving this provision, attendees expressly have, fully, finally, and forever settled, and released any and all claims arising from participation in the event.

By registering for the event, attendees confirm that they have read and understood these terms and conditions, and freely, knowingly, and voluntarily agree to abide by them.  

Cancellation Policy for Attendees of the NPA
Annual National Psychopharmacology Update™

The Nevada Psychiatric Association (NPA) reserves the right to cancel or postpone the 30th Annual National Psychopharmacology Update™ in Las Vegas, Nevada due to unforeseen circumstances or insufficient enrollment. In the event of such cancellation or postponement, NPA may refund the registration fee but is not responsible for any related costs or expenses to participants, including cancellation fees assessed by hotels, airlines, and travel agencies. Participants who wish to cancel their registration must do so in writing by January 3, 2025. Participants may cancel without penalty until August 23, 2024. A $75 administrative fee will be charged for all cancellations postmarked after August 23, 2024. Substitutions are allowed with prior written authorization by the Nevada Psychiatric Association.
